ABOUT ABOUT

The Beaches Museum and Lazzara Family Foundation present Roosevelt Collier.

South Florida-bred Roosevelt Collier is an internationally renowned master on the pedal steel guitar. Brought up in the  “Sacred steel” tradition of the House of God Church, Roosevelt built his reputation alongside his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, soul-shaking live performances. “The Dr.,” as he is known, leaves an indelible mark on listeners, flooring audiences with his lightning-fast slide work on the pedal steel.  He has collaborated with, among many others, The Allman Brothers, Col. Bruce Hampton,  Elvin Bishop, Funky Meters w/Bernie Worrell of Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, George Porter Jr. & the Runnin’ Pardners, Gov’t Mule, JJ Grey & Mofro, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Leftover Salmon, Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood, Shameka Copeland, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
